RE-LEM Demo Announcements

RE-LEM DEMONSTRATIONS ANNOUNCEMENT - MAY 2007

AEPCO’s RE-LEM is an easy and ready-to-deploy unmanned ground vehicle capable of efficient operations in a wide variety of terrains. The advanced control of vehicle speed, rotational speed, flail head down force and angle, enable adaptive response to terrain challenges, mines and operational objectives. The RE-LEM is a safe and effective removal method that can be guided by GPS on a robotic path, or be run by remote control. Starting with a modular design, utilizing Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) components, this vehicle answers all the needs for a mobile, dependable, effective tool to clear mines, breach wire barriers, and provide power and tolling for numerous applications. Combining this with a state-of-the-art communication system, the RE-LEM will meet or exceed all expectations.  With add-on packages, the RE-LEM can become a multi-faceted unit that includes a sentry device which warns operators of activity in the area, removes vegetation, provides transport capability and add-on tooling to complete a variety of operations and fulfill its primary operation of mine clearance.

Over the past few months, the RE-LEM has been demonstrated to the following key military officials:

  1.  General Benjamin Griffin, Commander of Army Materiel Command
  2. Ms. Kathryn Condon, Executive Deputy to the Commanding General, Army Materiel Command
  3. Mr. Michael Kirby, Deputy Under Secretary of the Army (Business Transformation)
  4. Brigadier General Robert Radin, Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Army Materiel Command
  5. Mr. Jyuji Hewitt, Deputy to the Commander, Joint Munitions Command
  6. Mr. Ron Davis, Deputy Chief of Staff for Business Transformation, Army Materiel Command
  7. Colonel Michael Welch, Assistant Deputy Executive Director for Conventional Ammunition, O/EDCA, Fort Belvoir, VA
  8. Mr. Mark Morrison, Office of Senator Robert F. Bennett
  9. Ms. Mary Maughan, Senior Advisor, Office of Senator Robert F. Bennett

Additional demonstrations are scheduled to occur in the near future highlighting this innovative robotic solution and paving the way to future collaborations with the United States Military.
